Newsletter No. 4 October 2009
President’s Press
This is our third President’s Press and again, welcome to the Hinterland Art GroupNewsletter, I hope you enjoy your visit to our website. We continue to update regularly, so visit the website often and you will see how we grow and grow.
This Press is released after each of our general meetings and it is always encouraging to see so many of our members attend and contribute to the success of the group. The September meeting was no different. The involvement and contributions shown by the members is awesome and makes being a member so much fun. This month we are very excited about a number of events:
- Alan Fall’s exhibition which has had fantastic reviews
- Members have entered art work in Regional Shows and won awards
- Our trip to Kenilworth takes place on Saturday and we have a bus full of members and friends
- Our first workshop since the AGM has taken place on 20 September with many more planned over the coming months, you can find this information on our website
- We had our eagerly anticipated GRAND GALA on 4 October 2009, with sausage sizzle, garage sale, art and craft sales, artists painting, demonstrations and much, much more.
- Planning for a Group Exhibition in February 2010 has commenced, with an idea not only for individual contributions but a Group Project as well.
So you can see how much fun we have, not only being artists, but by being volunteers, motivators, teachers, and friends…
New members are always welcome, you do not have to be Rembrandt or Picasso, just an interest in art, the community and keen to be part of the group.

Newsletter no. 2 July 2009
Newsletter No. 1 received very positive feedback. It seems to be a useful forum to summarise the group’s activities for the month and receive feedback.
The poet amongst us took up the challenge and submitted a poem with the title of “Pomona Promotions”. Thanks Peter Geeves.
Another item is the opening speech by the very talented artist, Don Milner. His speech gave many at the opening, encouragement to keep on keeping on, in terms of the building of Hinterland Art Group, despite the barriers and hard work encountered.
Our AGM on Saturday, 1 August 2009 promises to be the start of a new and exciting chapter in the life of the group.
Remember, that Thursday mornings is the day for HAG artists to get together in the Banana Shed to do arty things or just socialise.

Newsletter no. 1 June 2009
Much discussion has taken place regarding the publication of a Hinterland Art Group Newsletter so the writer has been taken the plunge to produce (in a very amateurish way) the first newsletter.
A challenge goes out for anyone to better this one.
A box will be provided in the office at the gallery for contributions, comments (helpful ones please) and any other bits of info which members would like to see in subsequent newsletters. Planned future items are Artist of the Month profiles, random member profiles, hints, announcements, poems etc. A little birdy told me that there is a certain long time member who is quite handy with the pen so one of his poems would be good.
The idea of this one came at the end of a busy day at 11pm, the night before the General Meeting on 26 June. Now that it is 12.50am on said day, I thought I would bite the bullet and print in the current format.
